An accomplished business executive, Larry Wittig brings more than four decades of experience to his role as the accountant and president of two recycling and solid-waste disposal businesses in Tamaqua, Pennsylvania. The first of these companies, Tamaqua Transfer & Recycling Inc., has been serving municipalities throughout Northeastern Pennsylvania since 1998. Under the direction of Larry Wittig, it offers garbage and recycling collection, in addition to dumpster and container rentals for businesses, individuals, and municipalities.
Larry Wittig also leads as the president of Environment Awareness Corp., Inc., in Tamaqua. Environment Awareness collects a range of non-hazardous solid and recyclable waste, including single-stream recyclables, construction materials, and demolition debris. Beyond his work in the waste-management industry, Wittig has provided accounting services as a Certified Public Accountant in private practice for more than 40 years.
A longtime supporter of Pennsylvania public education, Wittig functioned as the chair of Pennsylvania’s State Board of Education for more than 15 years. He also currently serves as the president of the Tamaqua Area School District Board of Education and a member of the Schuylkill Community Education Council. He holds a bachelor of science and a master of business administration from Drexel University.
